Your account
Delete your account
The quickest way: delete it in the app
- Open Hobbymaxing
- Go to the Profile tab
- Tap Settings
- Tap Delete my account and confirm
Deletion happens immediately. There is no waiting period and no confirmation email to wait for.
Deleting some of your data, without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something. Each of these can be deleted on its own, in the app, and takes effect immediately:
- A post — open it, tap the menu, choose Delete. Its photo is deleted too.
- A comment — open the post, tap the menu on your comment, choose Delete.
- A message — press and hold it in the conversation, choose Delete message.
- A resource you added to a hobby — open the hobby’s Resources tab and delete it there.
- A hobby you created — open it and choose Delete, as long as nobody else has joined it yet.
- Your profile details — your display name, bio, city and profile photo can be changed or cleared at any time from the Profile tab.
- Your location — clear the city field on your profile and it is removed.
If you would rather we did it, or you no longer have the app installed, email [email protected] and tell us what you want removed. We aim to action requests within 30 days.
If you have already uninstalled the app
You do not need to reinstall it. Email [email protected] from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”, and we will delete it for you.
If your account was never saved with an email address, tell us your display name and roughly when you created the account so we can find it. We may ask a question only the account holder would be able to answer — we will not delete an account on an unverified request, because doing so would let anyone delete someone else’s.
We aim to action requests within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your profile: display name, bio, city, and profile photo
- Your email address and password, if you saved your account with one
- Your account identifier
- Your follows, likes, and notification settings
- Your registered devices, so you stop receiving notifications
What stays, and why
Hobbies, resources, posts, and comments you contributed remain on Hobbymaxing, but they are no longer attributed to you — your name and profile are detached from them. This is deliberate: other people may be following a hobby you created or relying on a resource you added, and removing that content would delete work other people depend on.
Messages you sent remain visible to the other people in those conversations, for the same reason an email you sent stays in the recipient’s inbox. Your name is no longer attached to the account that sent them.
We may also keep limited records where the law requires it, including reports we are obliged to make to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
You do not have to delete your account to remove individual posts, comments or messages — see the section above.
